1 A.M. Album Window Gets Featured on BayUndaground.com (2020)

Bay Undaground album review of Window
Special thank you to Reckless for submitting this album to be reviewed.

On “Window” you’ll hear peaceful and laid-back tracks with distinct hip-hop melodies that appear for instance on songs like “Time Zone” or “Story Of My Life”. 1 A.M.’s lyrics are also soaked with metaphors and poetry, which is unusual for typical, modern rap.

“1 A.M. is a female artist representing Gilroy city in Santa Clara county. She has already released 16 projects, including the hereby album. You can find out more about her on Iam1am.com, while if you want to read a review of one of her previous projects, check out the article about "Invisible" on our website.

Window is made of 7 songs, which is rather a standard number of tracks nowadays; however imo if the project includes fewer than 10 titles than you'll probably feel insufficiency. Well, the rule does apply here, because the album lasts only little over 20 minutes. It definitely could've been longer, because 1 A.M. has a really pleasing flow. She has a warm and soft voice, with an audible hip-hop tone in it. Sometimes her lines are intertwined with singing, which mostly comes out nice. On Window you'll hear peaceful and laidback tracks with distinct hip-hop melodies that appear for instance on songs like "Time Zone" or "Story Of My Life". 1 A.M.'s lyrics are also soaked with metaphors and poetry, which is unusual for typical, modern rap. The artist speaks about hard life (that "little" had to suffice), parents' mistakes, searching and finding oneself, positive thoughts (and those darker too) and people's opinions. Listening to "Window" is quite pleasing, I must admit; I'm just too old for that street braggadocio stuff, so I appreciate more mature lyrics. Production on the album is decent, but after several spins it may feel samey, sometimes even monotonous. I'd add a more vivid and distinct sample here and there. Nevertheless the album is a nice piece of work, plus it is also surprising that an underground, local emcee releases her project also in a pressed version, which you can purchase on her official website. A digital edition is available on iTunes.

Props to Reckless for sending out a CD for review purposes."

Fun Fact
Window was actually supposed to be a full length album similar to Silent Thoughts, however I felt that it would be best to keep it straight to the message I was trying to put out.
